Video Games and Media Literacy (adults)

Video Games and Media Literacy (adults) In-Person

Press Start …to Read? When you think of video games, do the words reading, communication, empathy, and literacy come to mind? Often considered mind-numbing or even violent, video games can teach important skills or address serious issues, allowing children, teens, and young adults safe spaces to understand choice, learn empathy, and gain confidence in reading and literacy. Games can also help children, teens, and young adults become more comfortable with new and progressing technology. Join Dr. Gregory Blomquist, video game researcher and lecturer at the University of Alberta, in a workshop focused on giving you and the gamers in your life a better understanding of how video games can increase and promote media literacy. This is a Media Literacy Week event.
